History of Scotland
- Statistical Account of Scotland – Comprehensive parish–by–parish accounts first compiled 1791–1799 by Sir John Sinclair of Ulbster, then again in 1845.
- Electric Scotland – Major Scottish history site, constantly updated. Includes Today in History . Lots of information on Scottish clans. Sponsors Clan Tent award, sells clan map. Webmaster emigrated to Canada.
- Gateway to Scotland – Geography, history, people, traditions and culture. "We look to Scotland for all our ideas of civilization – Voltaire".
- In Search of Scotland – BBC website for the series on Scottish identity and history, filmed on location. Links to BBC's Scottish Timeline, other sites.
- History of the Scots Language – Article at Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, with many examples; links to the wonderful online Dictionary of the Scots language.
- National Library of Scotland – Digital library features include online maps, Scottish history interactive timeline, pages from "The Chepman & Myllar Prints" c1508.
- The Lordship & Barony of Kilmarnock – Ayrshire website to "portray the lives led by some of our great heroes and heroines, saints and sinners".
- Reconstructing History – Scottish Historical Clothing Research – Historical details of Scottish dress, authentic patterns. Of particular interest to re-enactors.
