- Court of the Lord Lyon – Heraldic authority for Scotland. Family history links.
- Rampant Scotland – "For everything about Scotland". Loads of links, feature articles, photos by Alan Scott, humour. Weekly Scottish Snippets newsletter, now with Colour supplement. Links to Webcams in Scotland.
- Electric Scotland – Major Scottish history site, constantly updated. Includes Today in History . Lots of information on Scottish clans. Sponsors Clan Tent award, sells clan map. Webmaster emigrated to Canada.
- BBC Radio Scotland – Listen live via RealPlayer; read about music, news, sports and more. Gaelic: BBC Craoladh nan Gaidheal.
- Heraldry Society of Scotland – Society to encourage correct use of heraldry.
- Scotsman.com – Online daily newspaper site – articles remain posted. Free browsing requires registration. Premium content includes 1817-1950 digital archive. Daily email. List of Scottish webcams; annual Haggis Hunt from St Andrew's Day to Robbie Burns Day via 10 webcams.
- Sunday Herald – Online edition of the newspaper. Opinion Polls.
- Scottish Radiance – Monthly Internet magazine from Eshaness Lighthouse, Shetland. Babelfish translation, online archives, Reader's Letter.
- Traffic Scotland – Traffic information, webcams.
- Scottish Youth Hostels Association – Budget accommodation for the young, and young at heart, from private rooms in Edinburgh student halls to dorms in Carbisdale Castle. Hostels in John O'Groats, Orkney and Shetland too.
- Walk through Roslin Glen – Beautiful 6.5km walk by the North Esk, past Rosslyn Castle and Chapel and the Roslin Institute and through Roslin Glen Country Park.
- Scotland.com – Travel site by USA company. "An áit a bhfuil do chroí is ann a thabharfas do chosa thú – Your feet will bring you to where your heart is."
- Historic Scotland – "Safeguarding Scotland's Historic Environment". Listed buildings, ancient monuments.
- Scottish Natural Heritage – Government-funded conservation agency.
- The National Trust for Scotland – A charity, conserves and manages its properties and Scotland's natural and cultural heritage, and offers holiday accommodation.
- Fair Isle – "Britain's most remote inhabited island" between Orkney and the Shetland Mainland, population under 100, owned by the National Trust for Scotland. Website by metereologist and photographer Dave Wheeler.
- Orkneyjar – Orkney news, heritage, history, archaeology, genealogy.
- Visit Orkney – The official Orkney tourism website. Lots of info. Live webcams at St Magnus Kirk Green, Kirkwall, and Pierhead, Stromness.
- BuyOrkney.com – Includes Orkney webcams, biographies of Dunkirk hero James Campbell Clouston (1900–1940), James Sinclair (1805–1856) of the HBC, and others with Orkney roots.
- Highland Park – Scotland's most northerly distillery, on a hill overlooking Kirkwall, Orkney, uses water from underground springs. Online shop.
- Old Pulteney – In Wick. Most northerly distillery on the Scottish mainland.
- Caithness Community Web – Bill Fernie's "definitive source for all information on Caithness". Many resources including daily local news, JT Calder's 1887 History of Caithness, the Caithness Castles page, clan pages, photos of the Halkirk Games (under Entertainment – Local Galas), aerial photos of the county.
- Halkirk Highland Games – Sporting event hosted by a village near Thurso, Caithness, in Sinclair and Gunn territory, on the last Saturday each July.
- Virtual Hebrides – Harris-based site promoting the the Hebrides.
- Taigh nan Creaganan – Ian Stewart-Hargreaves, silversmith on Lewis.
- The Black Watch – "Scotland's Finest". Est. 1725 as a Highland police force.
- Northern Lighthouse Board – Responsible for aids to navigation for mariners around Scotland and the Isle of Man. Website offers lighthouses for sale, includes a webcam at the Mull of Galloway.
- Shop-in-Scotland – Online shopping mall for gifts from Scotland.
- Edinburgh Castle Biz – Edinburgh Media's website for tourists. Great map.
- GLOS – Grand Lodge of Antient Free and Accepted Masons of Scotland.
- The WalterScott Digital Archive – An Edinburgh University Library online resource, this site includes biographical information, portraits, extracts from correspondence, e-texts. Images require the Insight Viewer.
- The Edinburgh Military Tattoo – Huge musical and military event at the castle each summer during Edinburgh's Festival Season. Always an early sell-out.
